Is my boat donation tax deductible?

Boats donated on this site will benefit an organization classified with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and are tax deductible.

What paperwork do I need to donate my vehicle?

In most cases we need the title or ownership papers of the boat. But, if you do not have title papers call us anyway; other arrangements can sometimes be worked out. You may contact us by submitting our online donation form or by calling us toll-free at 1-888-573-7033.

Do you pick up boats nationwide?

We can pick up motor boats, sail boats, yachts, and personal watercraft in every State, and in most localities of every State.

How do I calculate the value of my donated boat?

Thanks to new tax law, the IRS has taken the guesswork out of determining the value of your boat. Beginning in January 2005, you may deduct the full price we receive for the sale of your boat. This greatly simplifies the process for you, the donor, because you no longer have to research and come up with an estimate of the fair market value. This also eliminates the risk of you getting into trouble by overstating the value of your deduction on your tax return. You'll know exactly the amount you may deduct, eliminating guesswork, and saving you both time and risk.

You will receive a receipt at the time we pick up your boat, and as a follow-up, we will send you a second receipt as soon as we sell it, letting you know the exact amount for which it sold. That amount is your tax deduction.

If your donation is worth more than $5,000 then you will need an appraisal and a signed 8283 tax form for your tax purposes which we will provide at no cost to you.

How will my boat be picked up?

We will arrange to have your boat towed away at a scheduled time.

How long will it take for my boat to be picked up?

We can normally pick up your boat within a few days. If you need your boat picked up sooner, please call and we will try to make arrangements to fit your schedule.
